Medical Devices
Medical devices are among the most import products in the world today. Medical devices allow health care providers to test for, diagnose, and treat some of the most deadly ailments known to man. For the most part these devices preform as intended and provide valuable assitance to health care providers; however, in some cases poor design or flawed manufacturing can cause a device to malfunction or no preform to specifications resulting in an injury or even death to the recipient.
The broad category of medical devices includes everything from tongue depressors to MRI machines. the manufacturers of medical devices are obligated to preform adequate testing to ensure that their devices preform as intended. In some cases device manufacturers have made the conscious decision to continue distribution of a particular device despite having knowledge of possible defects.
This decision should not even exist. If a medical device manufacturer has any knowledge of a potentially defective device that may cause injury to a patient there should be no decision to be made; patient saftey should always come first.
While medical devices save millions of lives each and every year, thousands also die due to malfunctions and inadequate device performance.
As trial lawyers we are trying to reduce that number by holding device manufacturers to safety standards and holding them accountable when they fail to meet those standards.
